500 Errors - Issues with Name Tags

Using Google Contacts "merge' feature may cause issues when attempting to add, sync or view name tags. You may also experience 500 errors and/or failed uploads from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums. We're currently investigating a fix.

Receiving multiple email notifications

Multiple email notifications with the subject 'New Picasa Web Albums Activity' are incorrectly being sent to people on 'shared with' lists for albums that have not been changed or updated.

Videos aren't uploading properly from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums

This may be due to either heavy upload traffic or your video's specifications, which may not be up to par. Make sure your video meets the video upload requirements and please try your upload again.

RSS link not working in Chrome

Clicking on a Picasa Web Album RSS link in Chrome opens a page with the xml code displayed. To use the RSS feature, please use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Unable to import .mov files from iPhone to Windows 7 or Vista

We're currently investigating an issue where Picasa doesn't display .mov files during the import process. As a temporary solution, try importing using an alternate program and set Picasa to watch the folder containing your .mov files.

CD burning doesn't work

In the most recent version of Picasa 3.1 (for non EN users only), the creation of a gift CD/DVD or a backup CD/DVD fails for some users, producing the message, "Unable to check disc. Please try again." We're working on a fix. As a workaround for gift CD/DVD creation, you can export your photos to a removable USB drive or share your photos in Picasa Web Albums. If you need to back up your photos, please use the alternate drive option.

Synced Picasa folders may be removed from Picasa Web Albums when folders are deleted or moved from the hard drive

If you move or remove a photo from a folder where 'Sync to web' is enabled, your online Picasa Web Albums photos may be removed since Picasa detects a change in the number of photos in your folder.

Name tags are not syncing from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums

Some users are reporting that they can no longer sync name tags between Picasa and Picasa Web Albums. An album with name tags is uploaded from Picasa, but no name tags are present in Picasa Web Albums after uploading. This issue is currently under investigation.

Photo correctly face tagged as Person A shows up in Person B's album

Occasionally, photos tagged as one particular person show up in the other person's album with the correct name when the faces share similar traits (i.e. relatives, young children). Sometimes the same photo shows up in both "people" albums. This issue is currently under investigation.

"Http send request failed(12029)" error message when signing into web albums from Picasa

Slowness while scanning faces

The time it takes for Picasa to scan faces depends on how many faces are in your photo collection as well as what type of operating system you have. If you are experiencing slowness during face scanning please let us know about your system setup.

Renaming photos might not work correctly if name includes period

If you use Picasa's Rename function and the original file name contains a period, the new file name will include the segment previously preceding the file extension. For example, trying to rename this file with name '1.2.jpg' to '1.2.3.jpg' will result in a file named '1.2.3.2.jpg'.
