Explore Other Photos: Searching Picasa Web Albums

Print

Picasa Web Albums search allows you to find photos and videos across your collection, your Favorites or the Picasa Web Albums public community. We use tags, captions, album titles, album descriptions, and album locations to deliver you relevant content. Just type your query in the search box in the upper-right of Picasa Web Albums. After we deliver initial results, you can fine tune to find exactly what you're looking for:

Control the breadth of your search

Choose one of the following options at the top of the search results:

  • My Photos: See the photos from all of your public and unlisted albums that match your search term. Adding a few tags can go a long way if you have a large collection.
  • Favorites: Search across your Favorites' public photos.
  • Community photos: Search across the all public Picasa Web Albums photos.

Use advanced search to narrow it down

Following your search, click Show Options on the left of the search results to further refine your results. Search by the following parameters:

  • 'Face' or 'No face': Find people or exclude them.
  • Aspect ratio: Landscape, portrait or panorama.
  • Size: Small, medium, large or extra large.
  • Format: Search photos, videos or both.
  • Camera: Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, etc.
  • Copyright status: Search for all license types or assorted Creative Commons licenses.
  • Relevance vs. date: Find the most relevant or the most recent.
The 'Explore' page also offers several different ways of finding great photos. You can look through the public albums of other Picasa Web Albums' users by selecting a 'Featured Photo,' a 'Recent Photo' or conducting a search by selecting a 'Popular Tag' from the list.
