Adding name tags in Picasa Web Albums allows you to organize your online photos based on the people in them. Follow these steps:
- Enable name tags in Picasa Web Albums.
Your photos will then be scanned for faces. Depending on the size of your photo collection, this process can take some time. You can see a scanning progress bar on the right side of the My Photos page. When the scan is complete, you'll see the number of faces detected in your gallery. Click the Add name tags button to get started.

- Add name tags.
You can add name tags in bulk to groups of similar faces on the People tab, or add them one-at-a-time while browsing an album.
Add in bulk on the People tab
Similar faces across all of your photos will be grouped together on the People tab. The groups will be lined up in a filmstrip, allowing you to bulk add name tags with a few clicks. See step-by-step instructions.
- Click the Add name tags button on the right-hand side of the My Photos tab. You can also click the People tab, which will be available once the face scan is complete.
- For each group of faces, uncheck the box under any face that doesn't belong in the group. Any checked face will receive the name tag you add.
- Add a name to the photo(s) and click Apply.
Picasa Web Albums uses your Google Account contacts to making name-tagging easier. In addition to auto-completing names as you type them, you can also click the Choose link below the text box to select a contact from your Google contact list. If you've already named a person once, you may see a shortcut button with that person's name when labeling other photos -- click it to label them quickly.
If you add a new contact during the name tag process, it'll be added to your Google Account contact list. Learn more about how name tags works with your Google Account contacts.

Tip: To see any of the photos in full, just move your mouse over the photo and a small icon will appear below it. Click the icon to view the photo in its entirety.
