There are several issues that may cause printing quality problems. Please use the seven-step troubleshooter below to resolve your issue. If your problem's still unresolved at the end of the process, you'll be given an option to report your issue.
Step 1: Make sure your printer is set as the default printing device on your system.
- Click the Start menu on your computer taskbar.
- Select Printers and Faxes.
- Right-click the desired printer.
- Select 'Set as Default Printer.'
Step 2: Make sure you're using the latest version of Picasa.
We're constantly improving the product, so the latest version of Picasa may contain fixes to many known issues. Download the latest version at http://picasa.google.com/
Step 3: Change your current printer quality or print resampler quality settings.
- In Picasa, click the Tools menu.
- Select Options.
- Click the Printing tab.
- Click the 'Compatible' and 'General' settings, respectively.
- Click the OK button.
Step 4: Check the printer manufacturer's website for updated drivers or software.
If there are updates, download and install them. If there are no printer driver updates, you'll want to reinstall your printer drivers. This resolves most printer problems.
Step 5: Check that all print cartridges are full, cleaned, and properly seated.
Nearly depleted ink cartridges are a common cause of printing troubles. Replacing your cartridges will often resolve printing issues.
Step 6: Test your printer with Microsoft Paint.
- Click the Start menu on your computer taskbar.
- Select All Programs.
- Select Accessories.
- Select Paint.
- In the 'Paint' window, click the File menu.
- Select Open.
- Open the photo file of your choice.
- Click the File menu again.
- Select Print Preview.
- Click the Print button.
If the photo prints poorly or doesn't print at all, the problem is with your printer or printer software. In this case, we recommend contacting your printer manufacturer for further assistance.
